Swimming pool salt is one of the most commonly used pool disinfection methods. The disinfection method using salt for swimming poolsconsists of the formation of chlorine by means of an apparatus called a salt chlorinatorthrough a process of electrolysis.

Swimming pool salt is common salt, sodium chloride (NaCl). In its own chemical composition it contains chloride ions. Through a process of electrolysis (separation by means of electricity), we can obtain chlorine for swimming pools.

Before you start, your pool must be clean and free of algae, add salt (the ratio is 5 kg per m3 of salt, i.e. 5 kg per cubic metre) to the pool water. This salt concentration is very low compared to sea water (around 35g/l) and check that the water temperature is above 15°C.

Swimming pool salt is one of the most widely used methods of swimming pool disinfection.
