There is natural fluorescent materialsespecially many minerals, such as

We also find biofluorescent living elements. This would be the case of some algae, plankton micro-organisms that, when they detect water movements, produce a chemical reaction in the water and reflect the bioluminescence in water.

Increasingly in use are dyes, fluorescent tracers that fluoresce water when mixed with it. For example sodium fluorescein or the rhodamine are materials commonly used to dye water and other objects by making them fluorescent. Fluorescent tracers have their main application in hydrology for water flow monitoring, pipe leak detection...

These materials come in powder form and are added to water to make it fluoresce. To observe this fluorescence, an ultraviolet light is needed.

PRECIOUS STONES AND FLUORESCENT MINERALS There are natural fluorescent materials, especially many minerals, such as Gemstones: Some gemstones fluoresce because they contain fluorite in their crystalline structures, especially when they are of low purity. Amber: Amber emits a fluorescent orange radiation when irradiated with short-wave ultraviolet light.
